January to March

The first three months of the year saw the agency begin with a Trustee meeting which discussed the strategic implementation and delivery of projects and programmes with our proposed collaborations and partnerships for the year ahead.

Meetings were held with various agencies and individuals to discuss the Youth Charter’s development of our Community Campus and Social Coach Leadership Programme taking the Sport England Community Sports Activation Fund into our Birley and Etihad campuses.

July to September

The summer months also kept us busy. Firstly with the unexpected yet welcome visit of one of our founding youth ambassadors, Adesuwa McCalla. Adesuwa had travelled an amazing journey from the Youth Charter’s ‘Spirit of the Streets of Los Angeles’ to a placement at the Youth Charter to Howard University in the USA to becoming the CEO of her own media production company Metamorphic Entertainment in Hollywood.

A group of young people from Trafford as friends of the late Rhyan Wilson who lost his life trying to assist his friend, came together to meet at the Urmston Cricket and Tennis club in Urmston to discuss a potential festival in the name of Rhyan and the many other young people who had lost their lives in recent years. The project is looking to take place next summer.

The Youth Charter presented at the ESDN conference on Sport and Physical Activity Intervention in Leeds with Executive Chair giving a keynote speech.

The agency also delivered a submission to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s ‘A New Strategy for Sport: Consultation Paper’.

In September we participated at the Soccerex Global Convention at Manchester Central where agencies and individuals involved in the beautiful game come together to discuss and debate the future of football. Youth Charter Executive Chair, Geoff Thompson, launched the Code 4 Youth and was interviewed by Hawksby and Jacobs of Talk Radio and the agency’s work with the Soccerex Team celebrating their 20th year.

We also celebrated and noted our Chair of Trustees, David Allen’s 70th birthday.

October to December

October saw the 70th anniversary of the Pan African movement where the Youth Charter contributed to the Youth and Community engagement theme from a local, national and international perspective reflected in the agency’s work within the African continent and within the African Diaspora in the local regional and national communities that make up the UK.

The Youth Charter held its Annual General Meeting and third Trustee meeting of 2015 at The Landing, Media City.

In November the Youth Charter brought together the stakeholder partners within our Social Coach Leadership Programme for a workshop, held at the National Cycling Centre. Potential Social Coaches and key agencies worked through the programme for the first Community Campuses at Etihad and Birley and discussed taking the programme forward in achieving a more active youth participation locally.

‘In the City’ was launched in December with the help and assistance of the Youth Charter. The aim of the agency is to bring its members together to help them grow their businesses, to support aspiring entrepreneurs and global good causes.
